Painting is never ending story.
There are real feelings involved.

Artist Elva Garma

I come from a small village called Lizums, which is located in one of the Baltic States in Latvia. I painted in my early school years when I was in elementary school. That time my surname was Bahvalova. In childhood I took part in small drawing and painting competitions. My drawing teacher was my neighbor, and I often went to show my drawings to her.

What I paint is mostly emotional, something that comes from inside a person.

I express myself in organic abstractions, sometimes in landscapes or still life interpretations, also in playful modernism, postmodernism.

I like to pay attention to the relationships of color fields, composition, rhythm, color compatibility. I like strong contrasts, different planes, which are mainly not traditional painting with shading and perspectives. I also like to depict interesting things that make you imagine yourself completing objects or a conscious game between balance and imbalance, movement.

I always use the best materials in my works, and I execute with great care and responsibility, I easily give in to intuition.

I am inspired mainly by nature and photographs, travels, also from other artists, various interiors. I am attracted to Mid-century interiors and decorative accents, as well as eclectic, boho and industrial style, modern art.

Just as I love painting, I love nature very much, especially plants. As much as I can, I always bring in a lot of houseplants around me and take great care of them. I appreciate being in nature and I enjoy hiking, including skiing in the mountains in the winter, which is my newest passion.

That's about me in a nutshell, you'll probably see a part of me in my paintings.
